Ingredients:
  • 3 tablespoons margarine
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon corn syrup
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 3/4 cup finely chopped cooked vegetable
  • 1 pint half-and-half cream (or heavy cream for a thicker taste)
  • chopped fresh parsley
Instructions:
In a 3-quart sauce pot, melt margarine. Add onion, garlic, and corn syrup. Simmer 1 minute. Do NOT brown. Then add flour, white pepper, salt, chicken broth, water, and vegetables. Simmer 3 minutes. Add half-and-half. Simmer until desired consistency. Stir constantly – do NOT bring to boil. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve.

    This is the best soup ever! I use to eat it when I go to the Dixie Stampede, but found out it had flour in it. Now I can have the gluten free soup . If you are gluten free just substitute the flour with gluten free flour or use corn starch.

    I don’t cook much so these questions may not come as a surprise to you- what does the recipe mean when it refers to “finely chopped vegetable table” what vegetable is it referring to add?

    And should you use dark or light corn syrup?
