pigeon forge eventsEach year, Pigeon Forge, TN plays host to numerous events throughout the city. These Pigeon Forge events range from rod runs to concerts and draw people of all ages and interests. The combination of scenery, restaurants, attractions, lodging, etc make Pigeon Forge a prime location for events of all sizes.

When planning your visit to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee it is incredibly important to look over the Pigeon Forge events calendar to see if any major events are taking place that you would either love to attend, or love to avoid! Many visitors are surprised when they roll into town only to find bumper-to-bumper traffic due to a major car show. Some people love it and some people vow to never return…this list is meant to help you prepare your visit for the best possible weekend.

Throughout the list, you will find a “HEAVY TRAFFIC” label beside any event that brings large amounts of traffic each year. Please note, though, that if events or weekends do not have the “HEAVY TRAFFIC” label does not necessarily mean traffic will be light…the labels simply serve as definite warnings for those weekends.

Been going to this show for years. Love the cars and listening to them. Nice to sit along the strip and watch. Its a shame that a lot more cars dont go cruising. Im sure some get hot in the traffic or just dont want to sit and wait. I always wonder how many are afraid to go out for fear of Pigeon Forges finest. Ive seen people get pulled over for reving there motors, blowing smoke out of there diesal trucks.or maybe chirping the tires a little. A lot of the people sitting along the strip are there for a reason. If they were drag racing or doing 20 yard burnouts, I could see the danger. With all the cars on the strip, theres no room for that. Not too often you can look up or down the strip and NOT see any blue lights. I know of a few clubs and quite a few people that go but just dont take their cars, or dont go at all. Do they want to do away with the cruising or just need the money that bad? We keep hoping it gets better, but?

Been down there one time for a show. Think it was in 1992 with a 69 Chevy C-10. Show was in Pigeion Forge across from the hotel we were staying. We entered the truck, just for fun. We ended up in a picture taken from the show, overhead, view. Made my terminally ill husband very happy to see. Died in Dec. of that year.

So glad you enjoy the car shows we business people would have a hard time without you folks. I just want you to know us local people love to have you stay with us. We do require a 3 night during the car shows so you faithfuls can have the whole weekend to enjoy. Drop by and see us here at the Rivergate Mountain Lodge over the river near the old mill..

  2. kay Key says

I am tired of too many car shows. It would be much better if the cars were at a park or somewhere out of the parking lots. We like to shop and most of the time we can’t even get a place to park. This is bound to hurt some of these shops business.

    • donna kenchel says

they need to be away from the main part or town you can not even navigate through town for all the traffic

  3. nhp says

love the calendar events as it keeps me up to date on everthing. we try to make the mountains at least 3 times per year.

  4. Delle says

Regarding the Ray Stevens concert you have listed on your calender of events for the 22nd of Oct 2012…it is wrong and messed me up on my plans. As I was trying to make Reservations I found out it was the 26th of Oct. which was 4 days after we leave.

    • Pigeon Forge TN Guide says

Thanks for letting us know, Delle. This is now updated on the calendar. We try to keep all event info updated, but we don’t always get notified of changes which is why we always post the disclaimer of:

“Events in Pigeon Forge are subject to change, so be sure to check with the official website, phone number, etc to confirm event details before making your plans. “

  5. Sharon Hansford says

Up until 2010, my husband & I attended the Fall Rod Run nearly every year for the past 5 0r 6 yrs., but it seems the last couple times we attended, we had problems getting reservations. Jan or Feb of each year, I called to reserve our weekend in Sept & many places would not reserve only 2 nights, we would be told that we had to reserve 3 or 4 nights. Well, we live in Kentucky & we always drove down for the car show on Friday morning & head back home Sunday morning(2 nights) as we cannot take a full week off work just for a car show. It is really frustrating not to be able to find someplace to stay for 2 nights, therefore we no longer attend the car show. Not to mention the HUGE rate increase on the hotels/motels, the last time I got reservations was an Econolodge at $170.00 a night, that’s ridiculous!! We go to Myrtle Beach for 6 nights, oceanfront 2 bedroom condo at only &125.00 a night during peak season & in Sept we can get oceanfront accommodations for $59.00 a night. The car shows at Pigeon Forge have gotten too expensive.

  6. TS says

We were told that the Grand Rod Run will be Sept. 12 – 16 and your calendar says it begins on the 15th. Please post which date is correct! Thank you!

  7. Lottie Mowen says

don’t know if you can help or not but when are they gonna get the web-cams up in pigeon forge areas and gatlinburg, they’ve been saying there’re working on them for over a year now, or more, I sure miss seeing it on here. Just love your area, have been coming down there every year since 1966. please respond

  8. Norma Baumgarner says

We were in Pigeon Forge this past weekend for truck show and heard Pigeon Forge is going to do away with Car shows being held there ….is this a rumor or is it truth …I sure would hate for this to happen as I love to shop while hubby is at car show… we love Pigeon Forge…If it comes to this guess we will not be coming back to Pigeon Forge.:(

    • Pigeon Forge TN Guide says

This is a rumor that gets circulated every year. While there are always discussions among city officials on how to best alleviate traffic congestion, reduce violations, etc there is very little chance of car shows not being allowed in Pigeon Forge especially considering how much revenue they bring into the city.

If this ever does happen, we will definitely be posting about it!

  9. June Howerton says

My husband and I have attend these events for a couple years now. We just don’t know why they can’t do the same as they did for Dolly”s Parade. Close one side of the strip and let the classics cars cruise it. Set a time from like 6 til 9 and let the people see them. We had our cars there at light 8 and watched the few cars cruising. Then when we left it took us an hour and half to get out, we live in Sevierville. There has to be an easy way to do this. We seen several police just sitting or standing by or in their cars in the middle of the strip just watching and waiting for what? Watcher sitting on the side wanted me to make my tires make noise but no room and I didn’t need the ticket, so I just shook my head no. I think this could be done with caution but still be okay. No long burn outs but just little ones to make the crowd happy.

  10. Bob Mitchell says

I agree with Shannon Hansford.. I have/had been attenting the ”SHADES OF THE PAST” car shows since back in the 80’sm BUT the prices of the motels has gotten out of hand.. I can see maybe doubleing the rates for the special shows, BUT, NOW They are charging 3 to 4 times the regurlar rate. This is just to much of a ripe off for the people that come to the shows. NOT ALL OF ARE RICH just because we have an old car, AND a lot of are now older and retired and on a fixed income. The ”CHAMBER OF COMMERICE”” , THE BBB, should have a talk with the owners of the motels.. NOT only do we just come to the car shows, but we spend a lot of money at the restrants, outlet malls, and on other intertainment while there. IN OTHER WORDS, WE HELP SUPPORT YOUR WHOLE TOWN, SO WHY CAN’T YOU GET THE MOTELS TO CUT THEIR PRICES, THEN WE WILL HAVE MORE MONEY TO SPEND AT YOUR LOCAL BUSSINESS AND HELP EVERYONE IN YOUR TOWN, NOT JUST THE MOTEL OWNERS, BECAUSE IN REALITY.. WE JUST SLEEP THERE AT NIGHT, THE REST OF THE TIME WE ARE SPENDING MONEY IN YOUR TOWN..

  11. Carlene Mullins says

The calendar of events shows when the car shows will be held. If you don’t like the traffic, just visit another time. As for the high prices of hotel rooms, I agree that we are being taken advantage of. I get the same room every year, and it runs $130 per night. I get this room the week before Christmas for $28.99.

  12. Melvin Albright says

I do not see one of the greatest events that will be happening in Pigeon Forge listed in the calendar. This is the first year for the National Quartet Convention to be held in Pigeon Forge and will be at the LeConte Center from Sept. 21 through the 27th. Here is their website link: http://natqc.com/schedule-and-seating/

Appreciate the calender. We visit your city a couple times each year. Try to always get to Dollywood for the fall harvest and gospel music festival and again at Christmas. Will probably have to work in the NQC now that it has left Louisville, Ky.

  13. Craig says

Has anybody heard of a bikefest at the end of april ? I seen it in a magazine but have seen nothing on the events sights. Anybody have any info ?

  14. Ed says

For those of you wanting to go — Mark Chesnutt IS NOT performing on July 5th as this site states. I’ve checked and he’s actually performing on July 4th and ONLY July 4th. A message sent to the administrators of this sight to alert them to the mis-print went no where so I thought I’d alert everyone myself.

    • Pigeon Forge TN Guide says

Hey Ed, thanks for the heads-up and leaving a comment. This is now corrected on the calendar.
