SkyFly: Soar America
You’re probably wondering what you should expect when you ride SkyFly: Soar America. As you make your way into the building, you will spot clues that hint at what you are about to experience before you make it into the theater. Once you’re in the theater, a moving seat lifts the audience in front of a massive movie screen, where guests will explore iconic locations all across the United States of America. During the ride, guests will have an incredibly immersive experience with motion, sights, and sound as well as scents and mists! People of all ages can enjoy this state-of-the-art technology!
The film is a multi-million dollar production, taking 12 months to produce. The Mountain Press, a local newspaper, quotes Project Manager Clay McManus saying that it features “a custom-produced film with footage shot by drones and helicopters throughout the country.” You will feel like you are flying over beautiful streams, enormous mountains, and other incredible landscapes as your seat dips and glides!
To create this $20 million flying attraction ride, The Island teamed up with Dynamic Attractions, which is the company that pioneered and built immersive flying theaters such as the extremely popular Soarin’ at Disney World.
Bob McManus, president of The Island in Pigeon Forge, called the investment “a one-of-a-kind, immersive entertainment experience.”
The new flying attraction theater is located in the heart of The Island in a brand new 9,000- to 10,000-square-foot building next to The Great Smoky Mountain Wheel and The Island Show Fountain.
