$20M Flying Attraction Coming to The Island in Pigeon Forge
If you have ever ridden Soarin’ at Epcot in Disney World, then you are going to love this breaking news! The Island in Pigeon Forge is adding a $20 million flying attraction that will be very similar! The Island is teaming up with Dynamic Attractions, which is the company that pioneered and built immersive flying theaters such as the extremely popular Soarin’.
Bob McManus, president of The Island, calls the investment “a one-of-a-kind, immersive entertainment experience.”
The film that will be shown is a multi-million dollar production, taking 12 months to produce. Local newspaper, The Mountain Press, quotes Project Manager Clay McManus saying that it features “a custom-produced film with footage shot by drones and helicopters throughout the country.”
This incredible theater lifts the audience in front of a massive movie screen to provide an incredibly immersive experience with motion, sights, and sound as well as scents and mists!
The new flying attraction theater will be located in the heart of The Island in a brand new 9,000-10,000 sqft building and is expected to open in early 2020.

Several years ago on a vacation to Disney, we rode Soarin. Soarin was my favorite ride! It was so life-like that I felt like I was really flying and experiencing all those awesome places. I can hardly wait to ride it again and for my grandchildren to experience it!!!
We rode one of these rides at Disney and it felt so real……
It will be a great addition for The Island,,,,,,just don’t make it so expensive for people to ride!
Would love to take my wife. She is in a wheelchair
Think the name of it should be Smokin’ since it will be in the Smoky Mountains.
As to whether or not I’d ever go to it, who knows
Wonder when this will be done working on planning my 2020 trip and want to do this!!
