Dollywood has announced a BIG new ride coming in 2023, which will be their single-largest ride investment ever! It is an incredible new family roller coaster called Big Bear Mountain and will be located in the popular Wildwood Grove.
Big Bear Mountain is based around the story of a “Big Bear” being spotted nearby, and Ned Oakley, Wildwood Grove’s resident wilderness explorer, is setting up the Adventure Outpost Base Camp to put together search parties to find the bear. You’ll join Ned in his specially-outfitted, four-wheel drive SUVs for the ride of your life in search of the Grove’s most storied and elusive inhabitant, Big Bear.
Big Bear Mountain is a multi-launch Vekoma coaster and will be the largest and longest coaster at Dollywood at 3,990 ft long with 99-104 seconds of ride time. It will reach a max speed of 48 MPH and is 66 feet high at the highest track elevation. It will also be the first coaster at Dollywood to feature on-board audio
The minimum height requirement is just 39 inches, which means this will be a fantastic thrill ride for families!
Big Bear Mountain features some of the most air-time filled moments in the country with 23 “butterfly” moments throughout the ride.
The theming throughout the ride will include flying through a waterfall and down into a tunnel.
